FAQ

☆ Built-in stitch patterns describe what stitches the machine has, also known as the actual stitch designs programmed into the machine.

☆ Stitch applications describe the types of sewing tasks or projects that can be completed using those built-in stitches.

These two terms describe different aspects of a sewing machine, and understanding the difference can help you compare model features more clearly.

Because one stitch pattern can serve many different sewing purposes.

i.e. A straight stitch can be used for garment seams, hemming, quilting, repairs, and home décor projects. Each of these may be counted as a separate stitch application.

As a result the stitch application numbers can vary depending on how sewing tasks are grouped or listed by the brand.

No. A higher stitch application count only reflects the range of projects that can be completed using the available built-in stitch patterns.

It does not represent the number of stitch patterns themselves.

It’s important to understand both because they serve different purposes.

☆Built-in stitch patterns show the actual stitch designs and variety the machine provides. This is especially important if you are looking for specific stitch or decorative options.

☆Stitch application counts can vary by brand based on how sewing uses are categorized.

They should be viewed as a general reference rather than a direct measure of variability.

When choosing a sewing machine, the number and types of built-in stitch patterns are often a more reliable indicator of what the machine can actually stitch.

While stitch applications help provide concepts of typical project usages.

1. It is designed as an assist tool, only requiring simple manual steps from positioning the thread to activating the mechanism, to complete the threading process.

2. The word "automatic" refers to simplifying threading compared to doing it entirely by hand. It does not refer to a fully-automated or one-button operation.

3. The term "automatic needle threader" is standard across all household sewing machines currently on the market, as it strikes a balance between user convenience and affordability.

1. You may follow this threading tutorial that walks you through step by step:

The MMA20 comes with a Quick Needle Threader (Threader and Needle Setup Tool) to assist with threading. You can follow the tutorial video below for step-by-step instructions.

Our machine uses standard bobbins.

The recommended needle size is 90/14 (medium-to-heavyweight needle).

Please follow the tutorial video in which we walk you through the process step by step.

(Go to YouTube @MILLEPUNTI → Playlists → find the model you purchased → watch "Winding the Bobbin" and "Inserting the Bobbin".)

1. Check and adjust the bobbin thread guide while winding the bobbin.

Tightening it if threads gather on top. Loosening it if threads gather at the bottom.

After winding, the bobbin thread should be even and neat. It should not form a trapezoid shape, which will affect thread tension during sewing.

2. Check the lower thread's direction.

MKR45/MMA20: Vertical hook design. Place the bobbin with the thread runs clockwise.

MHP30: Horizontal hook design. Place the bobbin with the thread runs counter-clockwise.

3. Re-thread the upper thread.

Follow the tutorial video for step-by-step instructions.

(Go to YouTube @MILLEPUNTI → Playlists → find the model you purchased → watch "Threading the Upper Thread".)

4. Make sure the lower thread is properly pulled up by the upper thread.

5. Check the upper thread path under the presser foot.

The upper thread should go between the two legs of the presser foot and then backward before start sewing.

6. Ensure the needle is inserted in the correct direction.

Keep the flat side of the needle shaft facing the back, and insert the needle fully into the clamp before tightening securely.

The sewing machine accessory kit is stored inside the accessory box where you remove the free arm. Please check the accessory box first.

You may also refer to the user manual to confirm its exact location.

If connected to power and switched on but does not operate, check the following first:

1. When pressing the foot pedal, do you hear the motor running?

If yes, this indicates the motor is functioning properly. Proceed to check items 2 & 3.

2. Confirm that the power supply meets the required voltage.

(MILLEPUNTI sewing machines are manufactured for U.S. 120V only. Not recommended for use with voltage converters. Performance is not guaranteed when using a transformer.)

Using a non-specified voltage may result in insufficient performance and prevent the machine from operating.

3. Make sure the front cover is properly closed and securely locked.

When well-secured, the bottom latch should align correctly.

The machine is equipped with a safety mechanism and will not operate if the front cover is not closed finely, to protect user safety.

If it happened AFTER rethreading, please try the following steps:

1. Turn all of the tension dials back to 0 first.

2. Rethread it step by step by following the threading guide on the serger. Make sure to pull the thread straight and snug as you guide it through.

3. Once you've finished, set all the tension dials back to 4 (the standard setting), and try a few stitches to check if the thread loosening problem is fixed.

1. Push inward while turning the screw to loosen it.

2. Place a flat-head screwdriver against the screw and gently tap the handle to loosen it.

Note: The blades are designed to be quite tight in order to ensure that they stay securely in place and do not shift or loosen during operation.
